Just saw a short clip on CT the morning news. A pickup truck with 6 people left Stonington Marina. A traffic stop discovered a bit of weed and 94 lobsters I believe. No one in the truck had a licsence so all were arrested according to the news. 94 lobsters is a lot of lobsters for the sound. I just can't see the commercial lobsterman being able to compete with this type of poaching.
Allthough there is no conviction at this time, it does look like a case of poaching.

94 lobsters? Damn that sure is a lot!? Can't dive for that main...Couldn't have been divers, could it? Man if they did do what was stated that's CRAP and give us all a bad name. Well let's just leave it up to the authorities, but if they were robbing traps or didnt have license, throw the book at them!!!

ScubaSarus see if you can get a bit more info please, thanks

Did anyone say they were picked by divers? Were they shorts or legal?
It was 30yrs ago but I have seen the commercial boats set up a drop for shorts and have litterally hundreds of dozens on the designated drop(was in NY and NJ but also told of in Ma).
Sounds like some enterprising individuals raided a bunch of traps but not enough info so end of conjecture.....
