Please school me on recreational DPV's

Years ago I had a Torpedo 2500 and Sea Doo DPV
What is out there now? There is so many you guys talk about I am lost
I saw Yamaha's, Tusa, Sea Doo,
So here is what I am looking for
Something just recreational...run time around 60 minutes or longer...easily replaceable battery, decent thrust, reliable. I have been reading about the DiveX black tip I think it is??
What else is there to consider?? Would like to keep it under 2K as I need two of them

Blacktip in travel can get you in the water for under $2k. Range depends on how big of a power tool battery you get.

Is the Travel better than the Tech? What do you not get in the travel version that you get in the Tech? Just being able to trim it?

Blacktip is a great ~$3k (with batteries) DPV but the batteries are not included with the scooter. It seems ok to me from all the info gathered from internet but I would never buy that one without testing one out. Thing is, it will have no resale value or applicability to some other non-recreational forms of diving. Blacktip in any config just doesn't have much torque. It is made for ponds and lakes. As much as the parent company pushed their advertising upon me, I rejected all their notions. It is just not a serious DPV. But in your case, it sure beats Yamaha's, Tusa, Sea Doo.

The BT is 1500/1750 for the travel/tech. A pair of 12ah packs and dual charger is ~$500. The tech is longer and trims out better, but is heaver overall.

The travel is smaller, lighter, and less expensive. Same motor, and range is based on what batteries you get for it.
For the price point you requested, that is why I stated Travel. The Tech is a little longer, heavier, and has a deeper depth rating on the tube (both well beyond recreational depths so it doesn't matter), and trims better.

Travel is $1500 plus batteries, so under the $2k price point you specified
Teck is $1750 plus batteries. By the time you add batteries, charger, and some tax. Going to be hard to stay under that $2k price point.

The Blacktip is excellent at your price point and hits your requirements well. It really is a great recreational scooter with more than enough thrust for doubles. I say that based on actually having demoed one. It has more thrust than my Sierra (same manufacturer), better burn time, and is both lighter and smaller. It in no way compares to my Suex XK1 or any of the high end scooters. In its' price range I feel it truly is the best bang for the buck and is reliable.

Wow, if you don’t like it just say so. It is considerably cheaper even with batteries than $3K. It is a new design so initial units were having some issues with the electronics (mine included) but the company is fixing the issues under warrenty. For the price point it is a great little scooter for people who need something better than a Sea-doo but can’t justify spending several thousand $$$ for a high end scooter. This one fits in between the toys and high end stuff. For me its great for getting around shipwrecks, working against the current, being able to explore further out from shipwrecks for artifacts than I have able to reasonably do in the past. Plus its just plain fun! I have the travel tube as I got one early on and that was the only option.
