Just returned from Koh Phi Phi and Phuket (Kata Beach) last Saturday. Had a great time. The winds were a bit strong, the swells larger than I'd like (bring Dramamine), and the visibility could have been better, but the sea life was in abundance and the water nice and warm. (And the hotel rates are much cheaper in low season.) Surprisingly, saw NO rain!

As far as security is concerned, my wife mentioned just this morning that she felt safer in Thailand than anywhere in the US. Very friendly, very helpful.
