Cairns Australia would possibly fulfill your needs. There's alot to do topside, plenty of diving to the north. Some of the things to do : skydive, whitewater rafting, visit cultural exhibits and then there's diving :>)
Or how about Maui? bike ride down a mountain 38 miles, surf, Lahina, dive, Molokini Crater, take the road to Hana (sightsee trip), windsurf, beach it, Lua. The diving isn't world class, but it's good.
The north coast of the Dominican Republic might do the trick. Easy to get to, fly to Puerto Plata. The towns of Sosua and Cabarete are a blast. Cheapcheapcheap. Okay diving north of Sosua. World-class kiteboarding and windsurfing in Cabarate. Rain forest, white water rafting, and horseback riding nearby. Great variety of very good restuarants and bars, many right on the beach. Free wifi all over the place.

Great diving, great food, great people. Dumaguete in the Central Philippines is the place to go to if you want to escape the crowds and if you're the outdoorsy type. Drop me a private mssg if you want more details.

If so, why not do a liveaboard out of Marsa Alam?
It will be easy to organise out of the UK, relatively inexpensive - compared to many places (many packages available). Splendid diving all round and the water will be warm!!

Go to Galapagos before the end of your life. It will change you. Guadalupe Island Mexico will also change you. Great White Shark diving at it's best
