<< I also read that LCBR had TWO diving deaths, just in the last few weeks! >>

Most deaths in Cayman waters (diving, swimming or snorkeling) are simply heart attacks. Usually, obesity and/or lack of physical conditioning are contributing factors.

I just returned from Pirates Point and had a wonderful week. The diving operation, and food, is first class, as was mentioned above!

Two dives a day seemed to be enough for most of the people there. The boat leaves about 9 and returns about 2. You have about 15 minutes to shower and get ready for a full course, leisurely lunch. Rinsing dive gear and recording your logs is done after lunch.

This may not be for everyone but I didn't see anyone unhappy with the situation. If you want more diving then look elsewhere.

A live-aboard may be more to your style, if you want 3 or 4+ dives a day. Also, at Roatan's CoCo View, people were diving all day long since a shore dive was very accessible from the resort....just a suggestion.

My husband and I were very happy with Pirates Point, but that's what I like...two dives on one boat trip and the afternoon to relax and do other things. :)

The Pirate's Point Boat is a Newton 42. I think that the Little Cayman Beach Resort boats are the same.

I'll be there in a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll look over and compare. Or maybe not.

yep, LCBR has Newton 42s. PP actually moors it's boat in the lagoon near LCBR, they have a dock there they drive folks to.

PP is self selecting - people who want more than 2 dives a day don't go to PP, people who prefer the 2 dive routine and choose to go there are naturally happy with it. The often mentioned "3 dives gives you as much time as 2" is not really going to be true for most people though. Maybe for the real air sippers.

I've never heard anything good about McCoys.
