Got the crew together Saturday and said screw the rain! At least the seas looked OK in Cape Cod Bay so we headed out to check some LORAN numbers and see if we could locate a little wreck that sounded interesting. Well, as luck would have it we found her and marked her on the GPS. Unfortunately, we did not dive her. The weather and lack of proper gas for the depth made the decision not to head to the bottom in 150fsw an easy one. However, we were in the Pinthis' neighborhood so we headed over there and found the mooring that Capt. Marcoux placed there last week.

Never expecting to have good vis due to the crappy weather lately, we were shocked as well as pleased to have at least 30 feet of vis a depth. No shi*t! I know the reporting of visibility is subjective, but seriously, I was hanging at 70fsw and was seeing football size rocks on the bottom! I found the bow to be collapsed and barely recognizable compared to last year. Also, the whole profile of the wreck is settling into the seabed. It’s still a great dive, and always will be, even when it is completely flattened on the bottom. To say we had a great dive is not an exaggeration, and what a sweet surprise. Of course, topsides all hell was breaking loose as it started pouring and the wind kicked up while my two friends Jan and Harry were waiting for me to finish my dive:D.

Hey Dennis, I am thinking of running my boat to the Narragansett Pinnacle tomorrow night if I can get a crew togethor. Are you interested on diving on "Adventurer"?

John,

Thank you so much for the offer, I would love to dive with you guys from the Adventurer, unfortunately I can't get away from either work or home chores. I have a bunch of junk I’ve got to get done in the next couple of weeks as I have Gary coming up during the last week of June and I’ll be taking a week off from everything to dive in MA with him and the crew.

Thanks again for the offer, perhaps we can get together another time!

Regards,
Dennis

Sounds like much better conditions (below the surface at least) than the day you saw us out there on the Daybreaker a few weeks back. Since that was my first time on it, I didn't realize how much it had changed from last year. Interesting to know.

And John, never done the Narragansett Pinnacle. Is it as interesting as it sounds in the Snyders' book? From their description, I'd think it would be one heck of a night dive.

It sure is (when the vis is decent). We do it as a quick dive when we have something going on in the afternoon as it is close to the mooring. I have always wanted to do it at night. If you want to see what it is like, why don't you join us?
On another note, have you found the book helpful?

If you've got space I'd love to go! Thanks! I'll send you a PM.

As for the book, yes very useful. Between the two volumes it covers an impressive number of sites so it is a great place to get ideas for new places to dive.

I am glad you liked it. My full name is John Stanford. I am one of the contributing authors. It's nice to hear candid feedback about what we wrote (good or bad)
I will email you later today about diving tomorrow night.
