San Miguel Hiltons - saw lots of Hiltons through the surge. San Miguel has a rugged beauty I loved. I wish we spent more time there or dived some of the real dive sites there.
San Miguel Cuthona - I saw what I thought was a Cuthona, and it was a small anemone. I looked over about a foot and there WAS a Cuthona laying eggs. Weird. Dette and I looked at this shot on the boat that night and noticed the baby Cuthona in the frame. Really weird.
Night Dive Crabby - this crab was so silly. He was all running around. Dette sort of steered him towards me. Its not much of a shot, but I include it here to show you the amazing camouflage this guy has.
Octo - we saw no octo's on San Miguel. This one was shot on Santa Cruz.
Night Dive Eel - this is the smallest Moray I've ever seen. This guy's head was about the size of a blue glove thumb.
Night Dive Hermit Crabb - this guy was funny. I wanted to shoot him at a specific angle, but he kept moving. I'd grab the shell and move him back and he'd slowly emerge and walk away. By about the 4th or 5th time, he was tired of this game, and the moment I'd put him down he'd wander off. This is my fav shot from this bogus trip.
Lemon on a Half Shell - I'm going to post the whole series of this shot in another thread so you can see how the sausage is made. Its a fun story.
Hermi on the run - Hermissenda on the hoof.
Shrimp on Leather Star - on one of the night dives, we ran across this little leather star. I see something moving on it - its a baby shrimp. The colors were so cool together. I can't believe these shrimp don't live on these stars as their colors are so perfect together. I loved shooting this little guy. He was running all over this star. It was tough to get the shots I wanted as he wouldn't sit still!
