Hi Guys,

I finally switch to use dSLR underwater after much consideration. This is my first dive trip with this setup. The macro shots is shot with Canon EF 100mm Macro lens and wide angle is shot with EF 18mm-55mm kit lens.

I am quite impress with how the picture turn out from the kit lens.

Nice pics! Where you here through live aboard or resort? What's the cheapest way to get to dive here?

Thanks. My group was on budget 8-days trip and chartered a small LOB for 10pax sailed from Sorong to Raja Ampat.

We flew from Singapore to Jakarta via JetStar/Value Air and make our connecting flight to Ambon with Lion Air followed by Wings Air(sister company of Lion Air) to Sorong. The alternate route to get there is to flight SilkAir(sister company of Singapore Airlines) from Singapore to Manado before connecting to Sorong via Wings Air or Merpati. This route will require you to spend at least a night at Manado (correct me if I'm wrong). Hence, some divers will opt to spend a few day doing muck diving at Lembeh Straits or Wall dives at Bunaken Marine Park for making their way to Sorong.

We mainly dove around Gam island. Raja Ampat is so big you hardly meet divers from other group unless you dove near some dive resorts.

Wow. Do they have a shorter package? like a 4-day package?

hey Ken

It takes a lot of effort to get to Raja, so people usually stay for at least 8 days.

You can probably pay per day at some of the land resorts, but flights/boat transfers may not run every day or even every other day at all places.
