Hello, I'm new to ScubaBoard and I wanted to ask a general question about doing my dive master training in the Philippines this winter.

There seem to be many different islands, options, and prices for programs. If anybody has experience diving in the area, what should I expect for the total price of a program. One offer I was given from Puerto Galera was 290,760.00 PHP which is over $5000. Granted this does include everything including dive master and instructor. Are there cheaper options I should consider? Best housing options?

I also wanted to get general opinions of the best Islands or locations to dive in the Philippines to help decide on a location to choose.

Anyways thanks for any information on the subject!

Is that for full "zero to hero" certification? Rescue, DiveMaster, Instructor....?

Make sure that quote includes more than just the minimum required number of dives. If you really want to go this route, you should have way more dives than that to be proficient and effective as an instructor. And there is a lot more to being an instructor than just the course-work. Well, a good one, anyways.

Yes excluding Rescue, I did that recently. I do have more dives than I've actually logged, and a lot more valuable knowledge from my sister (course director) and her husband (instructor), as well as helping with several dive classes, which has helped expedite my decision to follow this route as well. I appreciate the insight and the sentiment of not simply doing the bare minimum. Cheers

yeah. you'll do fine. your sister and brother in law will chastise and shame you if you don't do it right.
