After some pretty intense diving, I noticed petechiae on my left lower leg.

Could this be cutaneous DCS? I have no pain or other symptoms.

Hi Hemlon:

It is possible but not likely. Contact dermatitis is more likely.

Abrasion can cause petechial hemorrhages. Other causes to consider includes venous stasis - which can cause a number of "hemorhage like" problems. These includes Shaumberg's purpura, pigmented purpura, and other hemorrhage like lesions.

Most likely, it is from superficial trauma, from friction of your boot, fins, or suit on your skin. If you are diving dry, it could be from a squeez.

We can not diagnose over the internet, so it is best to see it in person.
