Perdix 2, Petrel 3

Yeah, I could see user-replaceable batteries being a nice plus for me (OC rec). And I have heard from many tech divers that it is a dealbreaker for them, so, that'd be a substantial improvement. Not saying that it's perfect, by the way, just wondering what improvements people have in mind.

I am a recreational diver that does some recreational deco dives and bough a Perdix AI. One of the reasons was being able to change battery and the large screen and only two large buttons to use. I also did not want a DC with anything other than visual alarms.

looks like they updated the screen too, probably more akin to the brightness of the teric screen, which would make the perdix a much more visible computer.

I find my Perdix on auto bright enough but you can adjust the brightness settings.

I haven't heard anything about that. What features would you be looking for in it? Pretty happy with mine as-is.

I would be tempted to buy a Teric if they could fix the reliability issues. Once and for all. A new revision with an excellent track record (like the Perdix) would do a lot to reverse my misgivings.

Yep. Same here. I was looking closely between the Teric & Perdix when I got mine. Two things swayed me to the Perdix. I couldn't see myself wearing the Teric as a daily watch, so the form factor wasn't a huge draw. The other one was the easy battery replacement.

I absolutely did not want audible alarms, but would not have been opposed to haptic. Just didn't need them enough to justify.

Regarding the possibility of Teric 2 on the horizon. Might be due, but the changes implemented for the Petrel and Perdix are pretty much already there in the Teric. AI, improved screen, haptic alarms. User replaceable battery may be an improvement, but I'm not seeing that as likely. You usually only see replaceable batteries in watch sized computers with monochrome screens (lower draw). I would certainly not want to be replacing batteries on the same schedule as the Teric needs to be recharged.

Apparently the lcd is the same but better glass improves the clarity. Be curious if the new glass needs a protector. I like the vibrate alert, but $ for just that feature, love the perdix AI overall. I can get lost in thought on dives, so a nice buzz if needed is appreciated

Yes. Better glass on the Perdix, but I think the display itself is the same. Petrel gets a new AMOLED display and glass.

IC supply chain issues are nuts. Designing circuits for work and getting lead-times as far out as 68 weeks for simply ICs. Then factor in the cost increase of over 50% of what we used to pay for them.

All new computer prices will be going up, and computers alot of circuits will need to be redesigned due to increase of end-of-life parts. If the companies didn't have foresight in their part selection, inventory lead-times will increase.
