As an aside, Bahama Bob's got some great food, and a full bar. Take advantage of it. :)

Met at MBT with a total of two divers, myself and Stacia.
After some discussion with the guys at the dive shop we
decided to go to Navarre pier instead of Whiskey wreck.
Weather conditions looked great there on the beach cam.

We arrived and found a few divers just getting out of the
water and lots of folks lounging on the beach imitating turtles.
After suiting up and entering the water my extra weight belt
kept slipping down until it was tripping me so I had to return
to the beach to readjust. That is the last time I am using
that stupid 7 mil suit down here. Even with 30# of weight I
had difficulty descending, and even more difficulty just walking.

Upon swimming out to the pier we found the water to have
about 10 to 15 ft visibility, but there was a layer of fine silt
just above the bottom that got worse the further we went
out. At the end of the last section of the pier that silt reduced
the visibility to only a couple of feet. Although we could rise
above it, it obscured the most interesting stuff near the bottom.

This is one of the few dives when I have seen no fish at all.
Stacia saw one tiny "fishling" about fingernail size, but all I saw
was a couple of jellyfish. The water was beautiful for about the
first 6 to 10 feet and the conditions were lovely. A great day
to be at the beach. When we returned about 12:30 the number
of "turtle imitators" on the beach had doubled and it looked almost
like summer, but no one but us and a small handful of surfers were
in the water. :turtle: I can't imagine why.

Anybody wanna buy a good 7 mil dive suit? Guaranteed to keep you
toasty warm.:eyebrow:

Water was nice in Gulf Shores yesterday afternoon, you guys shoulda hit up the Whiskey. Visibility wouldn't have been much better, but atleast there are some fish hanging around it.

Thanks for the report though, I've read no reports on Navarre since the last time I posted one :p

At one point the visibility was 6 inches. ::kick kick... look for buddy... kick kick look for buddy...put my gauges against my mask...:::
