Pelagic Dive Cloud - What are the benefits?

My husband recently lost all his DiverLog+ logs with manual edits on his iPhone. We were able to get the raw DC data reloaded from his DC, but were wondering how to keep this from happening again? Is the answer to upload your edited DiverLog+ log in to the cloud with Dive Cloud?

I created a Dive Cloud account, there's not much documentation out there on why you would want to use a 2nd dive logging software app in the first place -or- how to go about uploading DiverLog+ data into Dive Cloud.

Would appreciate comments.

I would not trust a cloud as my main backup for any data. If the cloud service goes away, your dives are also gone. Most clouds do not offer a proper export method, so they are a one way backup. I would use a 3rd party app that offers local data backup and export functionality, like Divelog on iOS.
