My wife and I did two very short dives in Pearl Lake Friday, July 31, 2009, just to test our new computers (Oceanic Geo) and get a little practice in before going to the Keys in a few weeks.
Visibility seemed to be about 10 feet or maybe 15, not as good as when we went last September. It was hard to see around the plane and the cabin cruiser, hard to see fish under the training platforms, and there was little time to see fish as they swam away out in the open. I think it was much more like 15-30 feet last September.
Temperature on the Airplane was 57 degrees, above 21 feet it was around 69. First slight thermocline was at 21 feet as we swam along parallel to shore. Then it got colder again when we went down the line to the plane, but didn't notice at what depth, I was too busy pulling my gloves out of my pocket and putting them on!
Saw several suckers, lots of bluegills, one big bass hanging out at the top of the vertical boat, and one real big one in one of the cabin cruisers.
Only took two pictures ...

I used Photoshop's auto color filter on those. We did not take the strobe, just used the camera flash with diffuser.
There were sure a lot of people at the beach. I don't think there were any other divers there.
My wife isn't very fond of cold, low vis, mucky lake diving, but we had a good time anyway. Last time we went was her first time in fresh water, and she was a little congested and couldn't equalize enough to go down to the plane, so there was more exploring involved this time. I can't fault her for preferring the Keys, though!
