Ishigaki July 2025

Hello All, was curious everyone's opinion. Heading to Japan in July and debating if we should go diving we have three days in the itinerary for diving. The plan would be to fly to Ishigaki and dive there as from what I have read there are no Hammerheads on the islands at that time. I have dove many rock formations so not that interested in the "monument" dive just for that alone. Is Ishigaki the best place to go diving then? I also understand from other posts everyone says prime scuba on that island is who you want to dive with. If you have dove with them what were the best dive sites you visited? THANKS !!!

I did Ishigaki in July 2019. It will be on the edge of Manta season, so it will be hit or miss if you see them. Otherwise they took be to a variety of sites, some of the reefs were bleached but they were still had good fish populations, and seemed to be recovering slowly.

I can't really say about any particular location, except this one coral cave, I stayed back not going as far in as single tank without a guide line it isn't my idea of a fun overhead. Saying this as a full cave diver.

Otherwise it was fun dives. I wish I could've done Okinawa but there was a typhoon threatening to hit.

I am with you 100% on the no your limits on any given dive and never push things.

apparently prime is closed ... just got a email from them does anyone have any other recommendations of shops they have dove with?

also would note they are not closed for good - just closed on the days we would be there.

Viking where good but very small
