Need a little help. I pulled (busted) one of the straps on my most awesome Ocean pro Oceanic dive fins (paid $ 200 plus for them). They are older but loved. How can I find this part (the heel strap)...

JCS

I broke one on a trip and just canibalized a length of bungee cord and double looped it through.

When I got home, I added a small length of 1/2" PVC flexible tube for cushioning and did all my flippers the same way.

Worked so far, and that's been 5+ years.

No clue if the univeral does not work. I moved to steel spring straps some time ago. Make your own from the hardware store or buy them pre-made for about $20-25 a set.

Greetings JCsumlin,
I have to agree with most that spring straps are very nice and really pretty easy to install. There are a lot of spring straps out there to choose from or you can make your own custom. If it is only the strap it shouldn't be to hard to adapt a new one. I would try a bigger Oceanic dealer if you know of one, use the contact manufacturer here on SB just to make sure Oceanic doesn't have a replacement strap that will work for you.
Just be sure to give the specific name and what fin. Pictures are always a plus for finding parts etc. I have obtained very good information from the mask, fins forum. You might wish to post there also. If you are have trouble finding what you need PM me and I will call my buddy who is a has sold Oceanic for a long time, he might have a set in his stock room. What ever you do borrow some fins and go diving till you get fixed up.
I actually would like to try the bungee strap method for an emergency strap repair. This is a good lesson to purchase extra straps and carry them with you. I believe that is why spring straps are very popular, I have never seen them break yet. Good luck and do not hesitate to contact me for information.
