This has become a regular part of our rock lobster fishery here in Tasmania, Australia, unfortunately they also close the fishery to recreational fishers as well as the commercial sector.

The water right off the beach from Santa Monica to Malibu have been reddish brown on and off over the past several weeks. My wife few from LAX to SFO yesterday mid-day for a meeting. She said looking down on the coast, there were algae blooms visible off the beach the whole time from just north of LAX to Monterey bay. Any idea why the warning was isolated to Anacapa and Santa Cruz instead of along the whole coast? Dr Bill? Anyone?
