First I would never dive that deep with someone I do not know. I do not care how many certifications they tell me they have or how good they think they are. My instabuddy limit is about 30'. Second I would have had the nitrox diver who was lowest on gas at that time accompany the air diver to the surface. I usually dive alone but when I am with others I NEVER leave anyone behind. Third I would have considered the 300psi diver to be OOA at that point and got him onto another source, probably the octo rather then the pony so you could take control of someone who probably should not have been there to begin with. Last you may not have been able to over power this guy on land but in the water you are on a much more even footing. You get behind him, grab onto his valve, disconnect the air from his BCD and steer him where he needs to go. Once you are in control and he knows it he MIGHT calm down if he realizes he is not seconds away from death but I would not count on that happening.
