I suggest DAN, but in fairness I haven't had any PADI Insurance, but in my experience as professional working in Egypt and Thailand, peope identify DAN in any insurance-chat related.

Most of Instructor I have met use DAN also. I think their support line, is simply great way in case of a small "fear..".

I have DAN insurance. I think DAN has better recognition and their organization is geared at dive safety. I enjoy the additional membership benefits of being a part of DAN. I like the ALERT diver magazine which provides interesting articles and opnions. As for coverage I found them to be similar.
All the best,

Paul

Well I was wrong to say DAN was far off from PADI. After comparison, they are quite similar. The desciding factor is that PADI requires authorization before a copter ride etc it appears. The draw back is if no one knows your PADI they cant get authorization if your unconcious etc. So if they zoom you to the treatment canter anyway you could be out of luck if you have PADI.

DAN requires no authorization so you can go get treatment even if your unconcious and can't wait for someone to contact them.

This to me is a big problem unless someone can correct me if I interpreted the plan wrong. I hope I interpreted it wrong. Please let me know.

Mark,

While the coverage for both is comparable, DAN is known the world over and is more likely to be called upon in the event of an emergency. Also, since DAN is directly involved in supporting chambers throughout the world, they have an expansive network of physicians.

I did go DAN, though PADI clearly also has positives.
