I think what I will do is enroll for the course as my dive shop has a special on it where I can save money. I have until March next year to do it (I believe) so I will sign up and go over the material and then do the course when I am ready to go closer to summer.

Best done in conjunction with the CPR oxy provider courses!!!!
The most difficult part is the rescue practical test, where you must find a diver(be simulating a unconscious diver) in a given area(look for bubbles they are breathing as its not real!), bring them slowly to the surface, do your checks on them, then bring them back to the boat whilst giving rescue breaths(one/5secs) using the CPR mask, then you have to take theirs and your BCD, fins etc off and drag them on board(hardest part!) and do the heart compressions and rig them up on O2...... presto you got a ticket!

Really I wouldn't recommend doing this course until your sick of doing fun dives!

ALL THOSE associated things like Buoyancy control(not a padi card)watermanship/wavecraft/seamenship/navigation/freediving/UWnav/marine habitat and critter ID-things that take the fears away and really make you a good diver.
