Just looking for some opinions here.

My son will be 14 soon (April), he will probably be done with his PADI rescue diver certification by then and I'm guessing he'll have 30 some odd dives under his belt.

my older son (over 15) and myself are also in the rescue diver course as we all dive together. We want to continue to dive together and take courses together. But PADI says 15 for Enriched air which is next on our list.

My question. Has anybody ever seen PADI waive age requirments (only by a year), and am I pushing things by going for enriched air with him. He is a cautious, confident, level headed diver. I don't know much about Enriched air diving but it looks like he can handle the academics of it.

any thoughts ???

In case anybody's interested, I just got off the phone with PADI. They won't move on the 15 y/o age limit, but they said they will be lowering the age requirments for Enriched air and a few other courses in the next few months. So, by the time were ready, the age limit will probably be 14 anyway.

With SSI I know you can't be a junior open water diver and take nitrox. Not certain if it's a RTSC standard or not.

Did you happen to ask if they were also dumping the two dive requirements? I have heard that this is possibly in the works as well.

Pretty soon they'll just issue C-cards straight from the hospital at birth. If ya survived that overhead dive you gotta be good enough. :D

.

didn't even think to ask that, sorry. I hope they don't dump the dive requirements! that would be a mistake.
