Yea, I have that offer on my desk right now too. Mine is for $19 also. I'm not sure if the details are different though. I did it once before, the bags are handy. I like the magazine, but the free ones from the LDS are good too.

I used to subscribe but as a DM it comes free now. I am allowing my subscription to Scuba Diving to expire. Instead I'm picking up Advanced Diver mag to replace it. I'm a little tired of the focus on recreational diving and the miniscule coverage of tech issues.
Don't renew. Once you get DM, membership is automatic and part of the perks for being a pro. The mag comes free, you get a new card every year. And in three years I've been able to once use a coupon and then it turned out my AAA discount was better.bobcatdiver:
I, too, have the $29.00 offer and was wondering the same thing about signing up again. I enjoy the magazine (and numerous resort ads), sports bags are ok, but is that worth 29? I just want more I guess. Now with that said, I am writing the $29. check now so that I don't miss a magazine.

Yes, I get free Dive Training mags from my LDS. I suscribe to Scuba Diving. I'm a PADI Society member, mostly just to get Sport Diver.
As a landlocked diver, I enjoy getting as much reading material about diving as possible. I like all three mags, and the only drawbacks of one (too many ads for certain resorts...yada yada) apply to just about all of them. Still, I don't take them for the ads, so to they're worth what I pay. Sure, I have the free bags, rain jacket, t-shirts, etc... but those items aren't why I subscribe.
Everyone has to make their own decision as to whether it's a good value or not.

I'm a member for the magazine and other stuff I can potentially get from them. Last year I did 2 specialties of the month so received an H2Yo rattle and a t-shirt. I've also used their discounts to get a 50% off for a dive charter once. I like the magazine enough to keep getting it.

Like Jim I get this as part my PADI membership as a DM. For a while the magnizine was so poor that I call them Sport Diver and ask to quit sending it to me even though the rag was "free". I have yet to use any of the coupons or any of the other "benefits" So IMHO - marginal.

I'm in it for the magazine...mostly leaning more towards the travel end of things, but hey, a gotta know where to dive! Once in a while there are nice articles in it..otherwise..the bags don't hold up (I've gone through two already) and most of the coupons you'll never use...did it mention any savings to the DAN insurance?
