When I did my NAUI ITC in 1988 it was held at Gaulledet University in the Washington, DC area. In it was the first NAUI deaf instructor and I believe she is still actively teaching there. Here is a link to her class last Spring with some contact information, perhaps she can be of help.

This is definitely an interesting topic especially since it has strayed from the ops initial question.

I like the idea of a distinctive specialty expanding on the basic hand signals and have actually considered taking a asl class with my buddy to expand our ability to communicate underwater.
This class has a good reputation.
