I think I know the answer (don't do that!) but does anyone travel with the OM-1 inside the UH-OM1 housing? It would make packing a bit easier, but I can imagine it isn't really designed for the bumps you would get in carry-on luggage.

Not specific to your camera and housing but I transport my camera in housing, in my carry on.
I know housings and camera 'mounts' inside them are not designed for impact, so I use clothing as padding. I ensure the rails in the bottom of the luggage are well covered and nothing hard is going to be on top of the housing when I close the luggage. I've done a lot of air miles using this method, without problems.

I carry my Olympus camera in the housing but I keep them a backpack. I have not had any issues doing it.

I carry my Olympus omd5 mark ii in the olympus case in carry on. While i place clothing around it and my strobes, no problem in over 6 years.

My OM-1 travels a lot and is inside the AOI housing (without a lens of course) and has been on about 25 international trips in a backpack.

Do you take the port off the housing and put the cap in?

I also travel with my OMD-EM10 IV in my carry-on. I keep the port on and use a piece of lint wipe to keep the back of the housing cracked open a bit, as I've read that you don't want to seal the housing during travel. Note my carry-on is a backpack designed specifically for camera gear, so it has padding built in.

I take the port off and use the housing cap. There is also no lens on the camera body. I also don’t have the o-ring in the housing but I remove them from the housing and the ports when I store them anyway.
