I'm in the market for a P-Valve and I did my research on the forum. The one I want will be a balanced one but I still a have a question in my mind : plastic or SS screw? Is there an advantage of a plastic P-Valve over the SS one? One brand in particular....

Wow . . . can't wait to hear the answer on this one.

However, the odds of an SS one breaking . . . .

I have a SS one in mine currently. The last one was that Halcyon balanced one with the plastic valve thingie. I don;t see a difference other than SS is more robust.

More important than the screw IMO is the style of valve.

I had the original style with the check valve up the leg. This can rub against the suit and put a number of holes in my TLS.

I now have the "new style" Diverite one (similar to Halcyon one I think) which has the check valve integrated.

More $$ but less $ fixing suit
