Noticed the other day that all three of the DM's at my favorite dive shop in Cayman sport Overboard dry bag backpacks. They seem pretty keen but are rather pricy compared to a boring cheap-o dry bag. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with Overboard bags specifically or if there were any other suggestions for a dry bag with backpack straps.

I also whitewater raft so I have a lot of experience with dry bags. Northwest River Supply (NRS) has some very nice bags, some with shoulder straps. We also use some custom made bags from Jack's Plastic Welding. Both of these companies have high quality gear and Jack's will custom make any size you want. Hope this helps.

You could just get a cheap dry bag and place it inside a regular backpack with other items that do not need to be kept dry.

I kayak so have a few drybags. I have one with padded backpack straps that I've taken on some dive trips, I think it's Seattle Sports. It's nice to have, I can put a couple beach towels, shirts, hats, lots of stuff in there and have my hands free. But in my efforts to cut down luggage weight I realized the darn thing weighed several pounds, not to mention the additional bulk. Obviously not an issue for someone living there, but if you're flying it's something to keep in mind. (I bought a simple Gaia bag that's smaller and weighs in at a few ounces, but still plenty big for what I really need on a dive boat. If I really need hands free I could stick in my mesh backpack or clip it on there.)
