I would also be worried about the vibration from a long boat ride loosening them up. I would not want the heads of the screws poking me. I think I would prefer something in the slot (held by the two wing nuts) that could not fall away during a dive.

Thinnest wetsuit I wear is a 4/3mm and I do not feel the head of the screws.

I see concerns of them falling off, I will probably address this with loctite.

I did initially think of installing something in the channel, essentially like a heavy long bar where the sta is. However I wanted to be able to move the weights up and down and choose the quantity.

In the name of overengineering and wanting to have discreet and perfect trim, i couldn’t find anything similar and modular enough on the market. So I grabbed some spare stainless steel 316 blocks, 4” x 3” x 1/2”, and drilled and tapped.

Nothing fancy. Weighing in on 1.75# per block, I have made 4 blocks, up to 7# of adjustment. And some slotted thumb screws to make it adjustable on the boat. Don’t need a screwdriver as I use part of my belt buckle to tighten and loosen.

Just thought to share this idea with the world…

Now this is the stuff that makes me want a metal tank plate

Something like this?

Something like this?

Oh wow this is my first time coming across this!

I guess I had the cheaper DIY version, but I do love the idea and I might get that if my blocks end up being more trouble than it’s worth.

What is over-engineered and overpriced again?

Seems simple and cheap, assuming you grabbed it off the stock rack ;)

Well the cheaper and non-engineering method is just using lead weights on my belt or tank strap

And the scrap stock rack is always full of goodies

Yeah right I worry about my teeth loosening on the boat and my brain

Close but not even a smoked discarded roll your own

What did we engineer again?

Hole spacing? Tap drill diameter? I don’t get it.
