Hi

I'm going to be flying into Nassau 10 November, and then moving onto Exuma the next day to join the Carib Explorer for my week of diving.

I thought it would be an idea to spend the night in Nassau, rather than go directly to Georgetown on the same day.

Could anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel in Nassau. Also what could I do for a day (and evening while I'm there).

Also, what would people recommend would be the best airline to get to Georgetown, Bahamas Air or Sky Unlimited?

Any other words of wisdom that could be offered?

Many thanks.

Mignon Guest house-clean, friendly Greek owners, shared bath. 1 block from Bay st.-45$

What rexman24 said--this place is a marvelous value on an island that is not inexpensive. Not luxury digs, but fully serviceable and Steve & Mary Antonas are good hosts.

yes Steve and Mary are great hosts and have great stories to tell.

Consider A Stone's Throw Away. It's on a hill overlooking Love Beach a short walk away, is literally a handful of minutes from the airport, has a very nice pool and very nice breakfast. Pretty decent value for money. For the amount of time you have on New Providence, I'd probably spend it snorkeling from the beach and having cracked conch at Traveller's Rest (on the beach a couple of minutes' walk from ASTA).

I wouldnt call minimum 175 a nite resonably priced lodging, which is what the OP asked for.

Stones does look very nice! However I think I'll save it for when I can share the experience with someone.

Thank you, rexman24. As "pin" is talking Nov 10, that would make the cheapest room $200/night+6% tax.

Travelocity has the Wyndham on Cable Beach at $78 for that night. They have a casino as well as a pretty nice beach. 4-5 miles from the airport max. I've never stayed there, but I have been to the casino...

If I had a day to kill and I didn't want to go to the beach, I'd probably go bum around at Atlantis. Especially see the Dig, it's probably the next best thing to diving there. If you want to get wet, Bahama Divers has a 2pm 1 tank, they're in town at the base of the bridge to Paradise Island.
