Paco:
I had the OS System dry gloves and had a ring break twice. The company was very good about replacing it the first time. The second time, I switched to the older Viking System and I´m much happier. They come off more easily and have no o rings to crimp, etc.

It is an interesting comment. Actually, I move from an old Viking to OS because of the bulky feeling of Viking..... YMWV!.

Well this is nice! As I found out today there is only one Canadian distributor of OS Systems products and according to the purchaser, they have never ordered any of their dry glove systems!

So what are we supposed to do? I guess I/we [Canadians] are stuck having to order directly from the states.

I have a set that I need to attach, picked them up on Ebay for a good price, bought an extra pair of smurf gloves for $14 online.

Just spoke to Paul of OS Systems, he states that they do not recommend leaving the ring system attached to the suit for more then a couple of days, since it can damage the seal as it stretches

What is the general idea of these things? Are they intended to be installed/removed each time?

Just leave them on and don't worry about it. You will do a LOT more damage trying to take the rings off and on the wrist seals, not to mention that it will take a while. That's what OS told me (their printed literature differed) a few years ago. Mine were on for 4-5 years (not very many dives), no problem.

You can use the $5 blue gloves from SeaMar, similar to those pictured above, even though they have the integral cloth liner. It is rather tricky, but you actually fold the cuff inward a bit (.5 inch or so?) with the o-ring in there, then manage to get that onto the glove ring. You end up with the slick side of the glove being held into the grove by the o-ring. After you figure it out, you will still take a good 15 minutes to change a pair. It probably took me close to an hour the first time. If you have gloves that are slick inside (unlined rubber/latex), it is a 1-2 minute job.

No way... I had better not use their system if I have to do... :)

You know, to rinse the dry suit after each dive is enough for me.

Actually, I have noticed the some problem on the seal, but I don't think it is due to the ring. I will post the picture when I get back home. I am supposed to upload here and then bring it to DUI Dog event next month. It is not a big deal to replace the seal because mine is a zipseal though.

The bigger rings are nicer for bigger hands, however.

I am sure if Paul at OS Systems are mentioning about this rots. Recently, I found out some dry rots all over the edge area along the rings. I am wondering if it is due to a normal wear or OS rings. I am supposed to bring this into DUI Dog Days though. Please let me know if you guys have this kind of experience. This is a DUI wrist Zipseal and I add about 50 dives.

I'm using the OS dry glove system, and like Paco, experienced a broken ring on only the sixth dive with them.

I've enjoyed them when they work, but if a ring breaks again, I'll look at other options.
