I like the 710, I do not recommend the DC710, at least not yet, for the same reasons already mentioned. It is the 2nd most popular light I sell, perfect for recreational dives. I just sold a bunch to a local safety dive team, they've been very happy so far.

If you'd like to get an Orcatorch light I can save you some money. I can add another 21700 for ~ +$20 or so if that helps. The batteries are pretty good.
Hi Rob - I'm too new to send a DM. Can you DM please? I'm looking at the D710 + extra battery and also looking into a Shearwater Teric. Not sure if you do computers too. Thanks!

I saw a post or two that implied a comparison and a preference for the D710 because OrcaTorch says they are 3000 lumens.

I think the D710 is a decent light. But, it is not remotely 3000 lumens.

I shot this video comparing a D710 to a DGX700 last year. I definitely prefer the DGX700 - EXCEPT that it does not offer multiple brightness levels.

For a comparable light that does offer multiple brightness levels, I now have a Dive Rite CX3. The CX3 blows them both away for max brightness. It's more money than the OT. But, it's not THAT much more money and I think its extra brightness is totally worth the extra money.

The D710 claims 3000 lumens and is not quite as bright as the DGX700 (which claims 700lm). The CX3 claims 1900 lumens and I think it actually delivers that. The DGX1000-6 is comparable to the CX3 for max brightness and burntime. But, I prefer the shape/size of the CX3. However, they are both great lights. And the CX3 does offer the ability to charge it without opening the light (i.e. no risk of damaging an O-ring)

And then this video comparing the DGX700 to the DGX1000-6 and the BigBlue VTL9000P Max.

As much as I would like them to tell the truth the only thing you gain from the #'s OT throws out there is their "3000" will be brighter than whatever they label as "2000":)

OT makes good lights, but the #'s themselves might as well be just apart of the model #, they have zero real world value.

I'd trust DGX all day long with their #'s. I have both DGX and OT lights, they're both great. It would be impossible to compare the 2 without personal experience or reviews like yours, so kudos for sharing!

I'm currently rocking an OT D630, which is overkill for most of my dives but it's brighter and lasts longer than I'll probably ever need. I might go 6 weeks between charges, usually running it on low for my ~ bi weekly 1.5 hr dives.

Cheers Stuart, we need to catch up soon!

Yes on all of that! :D

I'm heading to the Bahamas tomorrow for a week on a liveaboard. We'll have to catch up after I get back. :D
