LP has the Atom one with transmitter and computer connection for $599. Is this good equipment?

TIA,

Stan

Personally, I wouldn't buy a computer from an unauthorized dealer. I've heard WAY too many stories about them crapping out and having to go back to the manufacturer for replacement.

Yes, I know LP has their own guarantee, but for electronic equipment, that's out of my comfort zone. Others are fine with it...if you are, go for it, Aeris is a good computer (I have one!).

LP may actually be authorized for Oceanic, but I would double-check that. Not for ScubaPro and AquaLung, of course, but they are authorized for some others (Oceanic may or may not be on that list, I would just not automatically assume without checking is my only point). I would buy from ScubaToys regardless. ;)

But my buddy bought his Atom 1 from LP and has had great luck with it. Keep it stored dry or it will keep turning on and drain the batteries very fast. The screen is fairly small and he has a few minor complaints, but overall he is quite pleased with it. The Atoms have a decent rep, from what I've read.

I have an Atom 1 - no transmitter and it has worked well for me. Be sure that you can support the Atom 1 software under Windows Vista if you plan to upgrade. I was not comfortable with the support so I am upgrading my Atom 1 through Oceanic to an Atom 2.

Make sure it's a late model (r2F) - another draw back is that the battery does not last very long...

I bought my Atom 1.0 through Leisurepro. The warranty is through them - they are not authorized. I've had my Atom for a little less than a year and as of yesterday, it's going back for warranty service already. The computer itself is working but the wireless is not. After 6 months, I started having issues with the transmitter misreading gauge pressures. So from a quality perspective, I'm not real happy and will be changing. As far as LP's service - we're about to find out.

Changing to what?
