Tony, meet W.T. aka "hoosier," Scientific Diver, U of Indiana.
W.T. meet Tony aka "do it easy," Technical Dive Master, Chicago land.

I'm surprised you two have not met yet! :D

So when are we diving next?

do it easy:
I just wanted to thank all the GLWC divers who showed up for opening day at Haigh! The vis was great, the water was warm, and the diving was amazing.

Who would have thought with the weather we had in Nov-mid Jan that the opening of Haigh would be delayed 1-2 weeks due to ice?!

While we had a pretty tough day at Joe's down in La Grange KY, we did have one advantage over you and Duane ... open water. It was cold water, but it was at least clear. Sounds like your surface temps were about 5 degrees colder than what we had. Sure made me really appreciate the new drysuit.

I question if that is really an advantage? :) These past couple weeks, Tony and I have seen some of the best viz a quarry can have. Even with the ice and snow.

That last dive though was cold, even for me. 60 minutes in 38F water, brrrrrr!!!!!

That's why I was swimming so fast- to stay warm. I really felt the chill on the safety stop.

Yeah, the vis really is unbelieveable- it's almost like an alternate universe- everything looks familiar, but much brighter and clearer.

The one advantage to ice diving- no surface swims! :)

I think the ice will still be down. It was pretty thick last week, although the wind blew all the snow off of it, so maybe it might melt faster now.

I hear this little voice in my head that is telling me to go...

Do it easy, you made that sound like such an awesome experience, I'm D***n glad I missed it!!!!!!!
