I was wondering the same thing. It's almost as if some people don't bother to read an entire post before responding. Maybe they just want to have a lot of posts themselves? Like that is supposed to count for something.

maybe they used the search function as is frequently suggested... :yelclap:

Congrats momma, I also just became OWC'd up here in a rock quarry in Maryland. Had some of the same problems as you experianced but trust me the best thing you can do is dive ,dive ,dive, the more you dive the easier it will come untill you feel just as comfortable underwater as above i actually like being underwater more ( weightlessness). I have learned to control bouyancy primarly by my breathing, and conserved my tank for longer bottom times.freshwater dives you are less bouyant than salt water dives. Also the thicker the suit the more wieght you need to compensate. i have gotten down to 24lbs with my 5.5 ml two pc suit i have made dives too 70 ft (Deepest local quarry) yes very cold, so its the protective equiptment you choose that makes the difference. for example i will be diving outside the Outerbanks in two weeks 3 mill one pc & 18lbs of weight 70 degree water 55 at 100ft.

When I see these, I always wonder it the person that started the thread is still diving? And if so, what they would say reading about their fears and problems WAY after the fact!

I read a thread I started last year when I was getting certified and can't believe how stressed I was...today I had the opportunity to hang and dive with an OW class, and saw what I felt last year! (although today was dive three and four, they already had most of the jitters taken care of!)

Dameselfish, you beat me to it. I've found myself searching pretty far back in the archives in the past myself.

As to the relavence I have had many many personal questions answered by threads initiated by others. I have also seen many threads repeated on a 60-90- day cycle. It's the nature of the continuim. One point I want to offer is that a huge amount of the value of this forum goes to lurkers who to choose to never post questions or input. That is the nature of the online experience. So any post, old or new will be of value to some readers today.

But whats even funnier is that after you have brought that fact to everyones attention, you still get people posting and saying congrats! I love Scubaboard...

Congratulations on Certification. Now the learning begins. Who the !?&% put a class in 5mm suits for a 49F degree dive? That kind of water is definatly 7mm suit territory. As for being clumbsy, part of that is due to the cold you were feeling. I dive 7mm all year round and don't feel clumsy at all, but then I have never had on anything else.

On the plus side in the warm waters, you will be wearing less and therefore have less compression and the diving will get easier. Take heart, you will do just fine.
