Actually the end is quite heroic on HER part; she strips her husband's body off his gear (he dies due to blood loss due to a shark bite to the left calf) and "hands" it to the sharks; then she looks and sees the feeding frenzie and she takes off her scuba unit and drops below the surface never to be seen again.

I think the movie was all right...It certainly opened my eyes to make sure my wife and I are included on the head count, and it reminded me I really need to get a dive alert unit for my power inflator!!

Yes, eid htob yeht, but flsereh sllik ehs

Well, I went on free tickets, so it made up for spending $30.00 at the concession stand!!

I think it would have been nicer if the undewater video would have been of better quality and perhaps more extensive.

there are about 5 different threads about this movie

On the Friday night premiere full price to if it's on free tv with commmercials and I'm too lazy to change the channel scale, it rates probably a rental at the video store. Not really good enough effects or cinematography that you HAVE to see it on the big screen. I wonder what the hell I'm going to do for a rating scale if I ever get a big screen at home. Well, at least I got a few years to worry about it now that diving is starting to eat the paycheck.

I have to say that I enjoyed it. If you are expecting a hollywood spectacular then this movie is not for you. As independent movies go, the quality was okay. The only bit I did have a problem with was that they were not noticed missing sooner. The dive operation should have done that but in real life, they were left behind...somehow!! Of course, what happened in the water was pure speculation on behalf of the writers but at the end I was trying to figure out exactly what was going through her mind. I already knew how the movie ended - cheers!! I can't wait to get down to the Flower Garden in the Gulf in October - and I am going to make sure that everyone on board knows who I am, when I dive, and when I come back. ;)

I haven't seen it yet...figured out the ending from the trailers. I've been lucky to see several sharks on dives in Hawaii, Florida and Grand Cayman. A huge hammerhead is a sight to see. Was so awe struck by the site that I forgot to breathe! Would do it again in a heartbeat. Sharks are so graceful to watch in their natural habitat. Never had one even remotely look agressive.

I will probably wait until it comes to the budget cinema but will go see it. As for the dive op issues...went on one dive on a boat like that...never did the second dive. Now I "interview" the dive op before making arrangements even after getting referrals from other divers.

I agree with some of the previous posts...this movie should not deter people from diving...but educate them to dive smarter and safer.

A few observations:

1) The dive master was a little too lax for my taste, especially with it being a cattle boat;
2) The screenwriters included the obligatory "jerk" among the divers (the guy that loses his mask and then sulks until he takes the first girl's mask);
3) The safety sausage may or may not have worked for them, but the whistle would have been useless -- they were nowhere near enough to any boats to use it -- and the cloud cover kept the sun from being effective enough to use a reflective device;
4) Susan looked more delirious at the end than suicidal. Maybe that's why she gave up at the end;
5) I find it really hard to believe NO ONE on the boat noticed David and Susan missing. Come on, now!!

On a scale of 1-5, I give it 3 stars. No more.

On a side note: I wonder how this movie would have looked in IMAX form, especially the underwater scenes?

Just walked out of the theatre...kinda movie that makes you want to smoke a cigarette when it was over...if you get my drift. Acting, sound, photography EVERYTHING was awful. Obviously the director had to fill some open spots, so you get doves and fish and water shots...and more water shots and more water shots, and then some clouds and some water shots - weird music too...did anyone notice the chick's snorkel was on the right (reg side) when she swam by the camera the first time, then from then on it was on the left? or maybe I fell asleep and and DREAMED I saw that.
