PM me if you are interested in hearing my multi-instructor and agency perspective on placing jumps, etc.

Practicing setting lines is a good idea, and in addition following those lines with your eyes closed will develop solid lights out navigation skills. If you lay them along a wall in a quarry with variation in depth, it will also force you to develop a feel for your buoyancy when you lack visual reference.

Less than a week to go now, & the excitement is building to a crescendo. Unfortunately I've only been able to get out & practice that 1 time at the local quarry & a little bit of practice in the pool for the class- sometimes work & life in general just seems to get in the way...). It looks like the gentleman I'll be going through the course with & I will be heading down on Fri. to arrive Fri. evening. On Sat. we're going to conduct a couple of dives to acclimate (certainly open water & maybe a cavern dive, will play that by ear). On Sunday the course will begin. Time to work, learn, but also enjoy.:cool2:

You'll have a great time! And you'll learn a ton. If you have a bunch of cavern dives under your belt, that will be a big help, if not, you'll probably find it more challenging. Either way, you won't forget it!

best of luck, tammy!

Thank you Baby Duck.

Ink Diver, Unfortunately I haven't been able to get in very much cavern practice to date, since certification. I am certain I'll have my share of "challenges", but have found that when I struggle, I learn vast amounts more & then I don't forget what I've learned, because of the fact I've struggled with it. I have already been forewarned by my instructor to take his criticisms seriously, but not personally. That he does what he does, the way he does it, to ensure we can survive.

Well just remember to have fun. If the going gets tough, just remind yourself to stop, breathe, think and act.....and then remind yourself that no matter what, you are going to have fun dammit!!

Don't go in thinking perfection will be required. It is something to strive for, but the reality is that you and or your team will make mistakes and that is expected. So if you make a mistake, don't let it make you anxious and trigger a chain of additional mistakes. Just relax and have fun!

Looking forward to hearing the report of the class.
