Tom Smedley:
From what I've been told. The machines that are used on checked luggage will damage film even though it is in a filmsafe.

The machines that are used for hand carried have less power than the checked baggage ones and are less likely to damage film. You should visit your local photo store and invest in a deluxe filmsafe though.

Always hand carry your film and if you are nervous about it ask for a hand check. The only place that I have ever had refuse a hand check and insist that the film go through the xray was in the United Arab Emerates. Film was not damaged.

Go digital

I took a mini seminar "Film v.s. Digital" at my local dive shop and I know everything about not letting film go through the x-ray machine. My question was are the machines at the Cruise port the same as the x-ray machines at the airport? And I like fim more in the quality of the prints when blown up.

Just assume they are.. better safe than sorry. I can't imagine they wouldn't be x-ray machines, anyway ;)
