We got back from Bonaire last night. We endured the storm, it took both docks out at our resort, Buddy Dive. The damage should be fairly easily repairable but no boat dives after last Monday night (didn't affect us, we went down for the shore diving anyway!). We really only lost 2 days from the storm, although we dove Tori's Reef Thursday about noon and almost didn't make it in - I'd personally like to thank the 5 trucks who stood outside their vehicles and watched me attempt to get my girlfriend into shore 3 times before I finally got us both in safely... these bastards left as soon as we got into shore safely, never even lifted a finger to 2 divers clearly struggling to get into shore. Hope you liked the show whoever you were...
Anyway, the viz was affected only a bit for Thursday, as Waterskier1 pointed out it looked like it was snowing, little white particles in the water. Friday it was back to normal for the most part. We actually dove down by the lighthouse on the very south end after our life'n'death swim at Tori's on Thursday, not much current down there at all. On Friday we dove the lighthouse again and some unnamed pulloff around Pink Beach, a slight current but not bad. We actually dove early on Saturday, did Vista Blue and then drove a bit north to see if the road had been opened, Oil Slick stairs had been ripped out by Omar so we dove Witches Hut and it was fabulous.
The reefs took some good beatings, lots of tube sponges laying on their sides and we also saw some big baskets on their sides but hopefully it won't take too long for them to recover. I was quite pleased that we really only lost a couple of diving days out of the whole thing!
