We've got an Olympus D535 digitial point and shoot that we use "above water" that seems to have a problem with zoom and autofocus. You can only take pics "close up" due to the autofocus problem.

Is this camera worth fixing? or just better to replace with a new one?

Is there an Olympus repair facility that we should send it to? (manufacturer or other).

what's the average cost we should expect to repair a digital camera?

Also is this pretty typical for Olympus's to break like this?

Can't address the issue of whether your 535 has a particularly prevalent problem, but yes, I can confirm that Olympus have an excellent repair center in the States. Their prices are not outrageous and they turn gear around in good time. (I have had two repairs done there; I dropped a 3020 that needed the lens re-fitted and my 5050 went down (Olympus paid for this one, it WAS a known fault)). If you have to replace your camera, you should know that Olympus have an EBay site to re-sell outdated stock and re-conditioned items. Hope this helps - bummer about your camera.

Wow... the ebay site is useful information. It appears that I can buy a D535 for starting at about $10 bucks + shipping (on no bid items). I'm betting that will be cheaper than repair.

Thanks!
