If diving were to be an olympic sport I think the divers should swim the torch during the cermonies. Would the athletes use split fins or are those banned?

It cant be any less popular than "people prancing around on horses trying to look perfect"... sorry... dressage.

We just need to come up with something that is interesting to watch: SCUBA polo? U/W Capture the Flag? DIR vs Stroke u/w boxing?

:rofl3:

I would be down for u/w capture the flag! or bubble ring blowing contests...

Hmmmmmmmm. One would think search and rescue could be made into a competitive event.
Take a look at rural dive rescue squads with maybe 1-2 call outs per year and you'll suddenly realize it already is...

It's been done. PADI took a photo and have used it as their logo ever since...

Scuba is not a competitive event. What do we as scuba divers do that is competitive? Nothing.

Volleyball, horseback riding/jumping, hockey, biking, shooting, skiing, even ping pong are competitive. I find shows about diving are boring and I dive! :D

The new scuba challenge looks stoopid! It won't make it.

They need to stick with documentaries which focus on marine life. Or wrecks that focus on history.

Well, they have competitive yoga, which is probably the weirdest combination of words you can think of.

Huge numbers of olympic sports are not really competitive sports. They are simply judgment calls based on artistic merit (albeit artistic merit which is closely tied to physical endeavour, which scuba diving is not).
