I guess with an Olympus housing coming out. A port for the 12-40 lens for the Olympus omd housing should be coming out hopefully

To answer pryo's question, yes your Olympus glass ports for DSLR housings will adapt to the new PT-EP11 housing and the 14-54/11-22 port is recommended for the new M43 12-40 zoom. This means all of the Athena, Inon and Olympus lines of ports will work on the Olympus housing.

It appears that the PT-EP11 housing will also be the first of the M43 housings I believe which will have an optical pickup finder for the excellent new EVF.

Looks like a great camera to entice people to M43 from 43, or even dslr users. But, for me, no real enticement for an expensive camera and housing upgrade from the EM-5. No real increase in resolution, and most disappointing the poor video quality remains. That is a disappointment because the image stabilization is a real revolution for video, and especially underwater video.

No interest in my end on an upgrade. Next round, with 24mp and a high level video codec tied to that great IS, then definitely. IF panasonic gets there first, then they will get my $$$. OLY is making a serious mistake by ignoring video quality.

So next question: What does the new 12-40 Pro lens offer that is different from the 12-50 most of us already have?

They both have the same close focus, 7.87". But it looks like the Pro lens does not have a macro mode to get to 7.87"..

I'm looking forward to the 12-40, as it looks like it may fit in the 60 macro port and can use a simple zoom gear. I think the 12-50 port was a complicated and expensive solution for a decent but not great lens, which is ultimately why i passed on it.

I am curious if Nauticam can make a housing for this, is the grip too large? There's not much room left on my Nauticam EM5 with 4.33" dome port...

It's a 2.8 lens instead of the 3.5-6.3. Much larger diameter due to that. It is considered a "pro" lens which may mean that the optics are better. Doesn't appear to have macro capability.

Does this mean that it will require a different port from the current 12-50 port due to larger diameter?
