I found my dad's old scubapro watch (nonworking). The case and crystal are still in pretty good shape. It says Scubapro 500 automatic on the face. I was wondering if someone could direct me to a good watch repairer or watchmaker that could take a look at the watch and see if it can be fixed. Thanks for your help Eddie

Thanks for the reply, I have emailed them and waiting for a response.

I can't find any information or pics of the watch on the web. Must be pretty rare. I guess not a lot of people bought them back in the day.

Scuba Steve,

I received a Scubapro 500 automatic watch from my parents as a High School Graduation gift in 1980. I wear it to this day. Every two years I call Scubapro and ask for the person in charge of their repair department. They refer me to a place to send it for a cleaning, and they have never steered me wrong. It is in as good a shape as the day I received it. I don't have the old band on it, but rather a velcro band so as to minimize any chance of loss. I went on E-bay to see if any were for sale to get some sort of valuation on it, but there were none. It would be kind of neat to have the original band for it. It is a great watch and keeps incredible time. But, I would recommend sending it in every two years or so for a tune-up.

The problem with repairing old diver's watches is getting them sealed in a dry environment, so they will not form inside condensation. Most any competent watchmaker can do a CLA, but few can seal the cases properly.

So that's the first question I would ask.

was shopping for a new watch (other to be repaired) and decided to get another dive watch as a backup... really couldn't find anything that appealed to me that was a reasonable price for a backup... then i remembered the very first watch i bought on my own...
i was certified when i was nine and my first piece of equipment i bought was a scubapro 500... this watch was purchased in 1976 at my local scubapro retailer (i grew up in south florida)...
i had stopped wearing the watch years ago as it started losing time and the band broke...
so i dug it out and as soon as i touched it it started running... it is keeping wonderful time (4 hours now) and i will have to go find a band for it...
i'm really glad i didn't buy another watch... if i must, i will send it out to get worked on. it has never been opened...

I have one scubapro 500 automatic for a long time but it's not working. Idon't know yet if I want to sell it because i havn't any ideas about it price. Maybe it should be better to repair it first? If you have any information please contact me: dinu_ion_cristian@yahoo.co.uk
