I'm a dry caver, vertical caver, and cave diver. I had enough spare parts to make a whole new carbide generator, and I'm pretty handy in the shop, so I made an old-fashioned carbide cave diving light.

I specially modified the generator body and reflector head for cave diving. I made a custom Goodman handle and mounted the carbide reflector head to the Goodman handle. The orientation of the reflector head on the handle is a standard Appalachian "cave mod."

Can't wait to try out my new carbide cave diving light!

Doesn't cut through steel
Can't get the sparker to work underwater
The flame won't even stay lit underwater
I wonder what I'm doing wrong

Pressure mate, and strap your oxy acetylene gear to your back!
