I made an insert for the very same head. Cost around $50 all in, aluminium heat sink, eBay driver , 3 xml leds and lens unit. The driver is the only thing I want to change. I also made a tighter beam insert with a single led.

Thanks, that's some good info, and the price looks nice. Was just googling xml leds and such and I'm definitely going to need to dig up a step-by-step youtube video or "for dummies" explanation so I get all my amperage and everything correct! Looks like a fun project though!
