I have a friend who works for Westin Hotels, an affiliate of Sheraton hotels. He can get me 60 - 75% off rates at hotels nearly anywhere.

I need your help to pick the best dive spots. Since this is over Spring Break, I'd rather avoid Cancun cause its a mad house, and yes the college co-ed movies ARE based in reality, albeit a skewed one. :eyebrow:

So there other places available are:

Grand Bahama
Pureto Vallarta
Los Cabos
St. John
Grand cayman
Puerto Rico
Baja California (numerous places)

Unfortunately they don't have a place in Cozumel as far as I can tell.

Poll incoming. Edit: Nevermind IE crashed as I was posting it. No poll. :wtf:

Better recommendations will come if you can provide some more information on your experience, the types of diving and creatures you like, if nightlife is a priority, the rest of your budget etc...there's a lot of people here who have dived several of those areas and they'll be better able to assist with a little more info!

I'm jealous ;)

You make a good point.

I'll cut and paste this from my other thread.

My brother, one of my best friends and I want to do a dive trip over Spring Break (March 12-20). Being as we're college students we'd like to keep it as reasonable as possible but we want a good expereince and realize that to some extent anyways you get what you pay for. $1500 is a stretch closer to $1000 would be better.

If you could guide me in the right direction that would be awesome.
We're not real picky about the destination as long as it doesn't involve getting shot at (especially when I can't shoot back).

Also if they offer cert dives that would be awesome as I would love to do my rescue diver course work here in dallas before hand.

As far as type of diving, any diving is better than no diving. I'll try anything once.

I think the Westin on Grand Cayman will be reopened by that time frame. (The whole island is still recovering from Hurricane Ivan.) The Cayman Islands are known for wall diving, and hurricane damage should be less noticable on the walls than in the shallows.

That said, Cayman has never been known as an inexpensive place to visit. You have to work a bit to stay on a budget. Shore diving can really stretch your dollar as there are great sites within an easy swim out.

Spring Break is a peak time no matter where you go. Whatever you decide, book early!

Cayman is the best choice, but keep an eye on your budget. Grand Bahama is better on the budget, but there is going to be a lot more people.

Diving is great no matter where you go. But, as Drew said, spring break is spring break, it'll be busy and finalize plans early.
