I asked this on another thread and got some responces but no one said as to why.

Why do you stick with the Mk10 over the other 1st's that have come along?

Air flow?
Easy to service?

Why?

Just to let you know I too am still a Mk10/109ba/G250 diver.
I even still have a Mk10 "new" still in the box. Just waiting for one of mine to wear out.

They are reliable regs that stand the test of time and deliver good breathing performance. Do they breath as well as the newer Scubapro's and Atomic's? No
Are they darn close? Yes

I use almost nothing but the Mk10's, mostly with G250's. Reliable? You bet. Even when two of mine were in bad shape, they still breathed fine. Why should I spent $500-800 on a new reg if it doesn't have any significant advantages over my current ones?

i have a fairly well distributed set of scubapro regs (various mk2, mk5, mk10, mk16, mk25, r-190, 109ba, s600...the list goes on) I still think the mk5/109ba is the best of all of these regs and I dive in some less than pictureque places. I want to get my hands on one of the older g250's but cant seem to find one.

lets all gather around in a circle and pray to the one and only god of diving.....lord scubapro.....lol

I've got a couple Mk10s. In both cases, I got them primarily for the R109, R156 and brass SPG that were hanging off of them. Mk10 & Mk5 both deliver plenty of performance, simple design, and easy to service.

The Mk10 was the last of the bulletproof, simple, easy to work on SP 1sts. The only factory part you need to overhaul it are some generic O-rings and a near-generic HP seat. Later SP 1sts have various plastic bushings, etc, which are supposed to be replaced annually and are available only from SP, and require more special tools.

Also they are dirt cheap used compared to newer 1sts which makes them doubly attractive to people who need a lot of regs!

I brought a g250 with a mk10 for $110nz (us$70) not so long ago and then a unused G250 with a used MK20UL plus service kits for $299NZ (us$200).
Now there is another G250 and MK10DIN on our local auction site. There is noway I need it but its added to my watchlist all the same.
