You need a very solid level of experience and comfort. Exciting stuff... BUT THERE IS NO BOTTOM (relatively speaking).

Offshore Oil Rigs aren't legitimately dove often (because of the permission process required)... and yet they can house a remarkable u/w community unto themselves. Life on the thick support pylons and crossbeams can be abundant.

You must be an experienced diver and comfortable diving in water that essentially has no bottom. PERFECT NEUTRAL BUOYANCY SKILLS ARE NEEDED. If you have to ask whether you're an "experienced diver"... you're not. Join us for the next trip, shipmate!

This is 3-tank, open ocean diving with "live drops".

MANDATORY ITEMS: A good safety sausage and whistle. (At a minimum.) Don't show up on the boat without these.
COST: $82.63

BOAT LOCATION: 22nd St Landing San Pedro, Ca Take I-405 N toward Long Beach. Take exit 32B to merge onto I-710 S (be careful of the exits ramps. It comes on you quickly.) Continue onto CA-47 S/Seaside Fwy and over Vincent Thomas Bridge. At the base of the bridge, take exit for Harbor Blvd toward Catalina Island/Ports O Call Village/San Pedro. Turn right onto N Harbor Blvd . Continue on S Harbor Blvd. Continue onto Miner St/Viaduct St. Take a right on 22nd St. Boat is docked behind 22nd st Landing Restaurant. Drop your gear off on the corner and find parking across the street.
BOARDING: You may sleep on the boat. (Starting at 8 pm on Saturday night.) Boat leaves the dock 7:00 am on Sunday. (Please treat the boat, and its crew, with respect and you'll get it in return.)
BUNKS: Bunks are first come, first served. (A drawn curtain means the bunk is taken.)
WRECK: The Olympic: 258' iron ship in 100' of water. Mostly collapsed, but bow and stern still have structure. Olympic II (Boat reserves right to change destinations dependent on conditions.)
RIGS: Eureka & Ellen. Both with different "personalities". Gorgeous marine life resident with occasional spectacular "guests" floating through. Depth: Go as deep (or stay as shallow) as you like and are trained for. Boat captain recommends staying above the 110' crossbeams.

FOOD: 1. Continental breakfast when you first wake up (6:30 am) 2)Full hot breakfast on the way out (7-8 am)... or after the first dive on the wreck at Captain's discretion 3)Full lunch 4)Snacks and drinks. You liking it yet?
AIR TANKS: Boat has steel LP 72s (overfilled to a 76's-worth of gas) for your use or you may bring your own tank. Caveat: Their compressor only fills to an LP steel's pressure limit. No 3,450 PSI fills on this boat unfortunately. Air fills are free.

NITROX: Boat pumps Nitrox into O2-clean tanks (only). $8 per fill. You may bring your own O2-clean (dedicated) Nitrox tank, but bring it FULL. No fills on the way to the rigs. (They have steel LP 72 Nitrox tanks for your use for the cost of the fill. Tanks are overfilled to about a 76's-worth of gas.)
BOTTOM LINE: Bring your own tank (or two) if you can.

GEAR: Bring all your own gear (except for tanks if you so choose). Boat has some weights, but probably best to bring your own.
BOAT: Pacific Star

You won't get to do this one often. Join us for this special trip!

Rigs shot with bait school around pylon.jpeg

This is a shot Power Scuba member, Lida, took last Saturday. Researchers are saying they're seeing large numbers of pelagic animals off the California coast lately. Our experience on Nov 23 mirrors that assertion.

Join us on Dec 8th!

This sounds really awesome, and I've been wanting to do a rig dive. Ima check my schedule.

Would love to join you, Bill, but I hope to be up at Piedras Blancas filming elephant seals
