Time to Ginnie from 39th n I-75? I am at Archer Rd n I-75 and it takes me about thirty minutes to go the long way up I-75. Just watch your speed immediately after you exit the interstate all the way to High Springs. FHP and OMAR have been really active in that area lately, because of the High School Activities.
Food for Friday/Saturday nights. Usually everybody brings something to drop on a table for Friday night and it's either that or go into town for dinner. It is now developing into a potluck dinner for both nights. There is also a Hardee's and a Winn-Dixie in town, about ten minutes away from Ginnie,... and many small cafe's.
Buckets/liftbags would be incredibly helpful. I only own one liftbag and was trying to make some more, but just haven't had the time or money. For the April Megadive though, I should have us set on liftbags!
I understood it was a "drift and snag what you can" dive. When the bag/bucket is full, head up to the boat. It's a lot less trouble than fighting the current. I'd rather have an innertube with d-rings and bags attached. Anchor it in one spot with a dive flag and rope off of it on the bottom, cleaning one area until the tube is loaded. I don't know that I like the bounce diving in deeper water.
NON-Serious replies:
MD2006B-Tub Diving Class
1.00 Credits
$35 Lab Fee
Prerequisites are:
Longlining Shower rods 101
Drainplug Marker Identification 600R
100 meter freestyle swim test-passed successfully
Required equipment for class:
Standard Cave Diver Equipment (Mandatory)
Loofa and Rubber Ducky (Optional but highly recommended)
Time/Days:
Friday & Saturday/9AM-NOON
Summary of events;
Class starts at the shallow end for basic drills and will proceed to the deep end as students get comfortable with the depth.
Tie offs will be done at the spigot and students will descend slowly to the drainplug.
Navigation skills and Plug ID will be done at depth.
The dangers of accidental drainplug removal and undertow around the drain will be discussed extensively PRIOR to the dive, in a classroom environment.
Surfacing divers will be REQUIRED to make safety stops according to MD2006B Dive Safety tables, and are cautioned to look for floating soap bars at the surface.
Although there is a ceiling, this will NOT be considered a dive in a overhead environment except when surfacing under the spigot.
Special notes* ANY divers found leaving the confined water of the basin and venturing beyond into "The Bowl" next door will be ejected from the class in an expedient and unpleasant fashion. We are limiting this class to a novice level dive and have NO intentions of allowing divers near "The Bowl!" The residual toxins from the dumping in that area can be LETHAL if not properly outfitted for that environment. This is not a HAZMAT certified class and will be confined to the open water environs previously discussed. This is your ONLY warning!
