Well, it's cold in Raleigh too!

Busted out a jacket for the first time this morning. I never thought about it, but if it got really really cold, I could always go to school in a wetsuit, right? only thing is, classes are kept decently warm, I cannot keep a jacket on when it's warm :)

Swimming laps in the outdoor pool at the Y when it's 5:30am and 43°F in the air really makes me think twice about not having ordered one of those really warm fleecy long coats for my cool and cold weather spring dives. Would you guys mind turning the thermostat up for the weekend?

Incidentally, JJw, school in a wetsuit wouldn't work too well. You'd sweat in class, and then the insulating powers of the wetsuit would be all but gone. You're just going to have to save up for that drysuit. :D

So...about how long should it take me to get to Ginnie from the west side of Gainesville (I'm basically at I75 and 39th)? I could always mapquest it, but last time I did that to get directions to a dive site, Mapquest gave me a map to the center of the county instead of the spring. Boy was I pissed. I ended up in themiddle of a field right under the red star, with no water in sight, already late to get in the water.

I know I saw this question posed before but I am not sure I saw an answer and I am too lazy to go through 15 pages to search for it.

What is the plan for dinner Friday and Saturday night. I know breakfasts are covered. I know lunch Saturday is covered.

I am guessing we are on our own, which is not really a problem but as I have said before I am quite challenged in many areas (cooking and camping being at the top of the list) so I am wondering what others are doing so I can try to figure out what I am doing.

This is a serious question so please help me out with a serious answer so I will know what else to bring.

Question. On the clean up, are we gonna be bringing the trash to the surface, or will surface support be assisting us so we don't have to keep surfacing? In the past, cleanups I have done, we have had a 5 gal. bucket with 1" holes in it tethered to the surface. Worked wonders. I am thinking if anybody wants to fashion some buckets in this way, it may be a bit safer, especially in the deeper areas for the divers.
Also, is there a particular area we are gonna be working in, or just drift the river and clean as we go?

For the non divers, is anybody renting the innertubes again this year? I am thinking that the nondivers can innertube the river while we do the clean up. Any thoughts on this?

Last time, we filled the bag, brought it up, and waited till the boat came over to empty it. I plan to do the same this time around. However, I am thinking that things could be done much better with a little thought and preplanning, and I am hoping to hold a skull session with everyone around the fire Saturday night, as I would like to make the cleanup into a regular event.

We will be starting at the Devil's run, and drifting down to the last tube exit, cleaning as we go. I am anticipating a rather strung out group, so we would be well served if anyone who has a float flag brings it along.

The Dear One says that tubing the river is temperature dependant.

Originally this was a BYOF deal, until Ken got back in and volunteered the lunch thing. So now it is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Dinner) deal. If you bring something, I am sure that we can figure out how to cook it, though.

oohh a clue.. Ken=lunch. Only 56 pages of posts to figure it out! :D
