Y'all dive and fill out log books? I thought I was the only one who filled out a log book anymore.
I log my dives and this year I have started to post them in my blog section on my profile. This has been a fun way to keep the dive “alive” as I have readers that scuba from different parts of the world and we then chat about my dives. It is fun and I enjoy this very much. So I must log my dives (online) for to many live vicariously through me.
BTW .. my next dive will be #98

Congrats on almost hitting 100, will that happen at Ginny?

I just hit 300 in August, and every single dive I have ever done was logged.

And FLDiveLover, considering the depths that you will encounter, Nitrox would be very optional.

Using air is fine with me. In fact I breath it everyday  . However, all the tanks in the family are already nitrox filled. I'll just borrow an air tank from my Divemaster this week. I'd rather not have to leave the park to get fills especially in unfamiliar North Florida back country with wild otters and what not roaming around :11:

All logging activity aside, I've been casually writing the software that I use
to maintain my dive log database along with all the photos:
http://home.fau.edu/barton/web/divelog/index.html

Feel free to get lost in it, but being on a massive University server,
it has severe bandwidth limitations, ie. they're stingy.

Entries albeit short ones, along with photos of last Spring's megadive ...

Considering I started converting my dive logbook to a database in 2001,
wrote the first version in Java (Bleech!Ptooey!Hack!)
and am currently converting it into .Net C# yadda yadda yadda,
needless to say the hamburger log has gotten backed up.

Maybe some prune juice would kick it along ...

This one time at submarine camp...
I had been eating grilled burgers and bbq chicken, when all of a sudden I gots da urge ta go divin! yep took a whole tank a air with me and used ever bit of it breathin. I tell u what, if it hadn't been for havin that scuba setup, i never coulda breathed in that cave! My dive was cut short though. My family was having an out of air experience and it seems like I was the only one with air. Had my dive mask on solidly and the reg in my mouth with a safe second so I knew I was ok. I finished my dive and yep, logged it! Afterwards my family said I was diving SOLO! Cavern style. One way in one way out! I tell them I prefer that way cuz pukin in my reg aint pretty. I thank God that I keep a reg nearby and the tanks near them. That cave gets mighty rough without air ta breathe. I don't know how many logs I used that day, but I dern near filled the book! I also gotta say, that water was blown out and VERY silty after that dive! I musta kicked up somethin awful!

:useless:

You could always bring a roll of twine and knot it all up before you go on a dive. Then you could be a lawyer... wait, I meant a cave diving lawyer,...
NO! WAIT!
,... a cave diver, yeh thats it!

You give a man enough rope and he hangs himself, so if you give a diver enough line, does he entangle himself?

me in post #222:
I have got a commitment from Ginnie management on the cleanup dive on Saturday the 28th. They are going to provide us with topside support, including boat/boats to deposit the trash in, people in the boats to help us dump the trash out of the bags, dispose of the trash from there, etc. All we have to do is supply the divers to collect it. And get this: Everyone who is an active participant in this cleanup dive will get that day of diving for free, and will receive an additional future dive day for free.

and later

me in post #464:
I talked to Ginnie Springs today. Concerning the way that they want to work out the comp for the day of diving, they want us to pay, then do a refund at the end of the day. Unfortunately, the last time a cleanup was done, several people registered, got their free admission for the day, but did not actually participate in the cleanup. Thus they are a little leery this time around, especially considering that this is the first time that we have done this cleanup.

Concerning mesh bags, Ginnie did supply those to anyone who needed them at the cleanup I attended, but I have not confirmed that this will be the case this time. I will be talking to Ginnie again later this week, and I will bring this up.

OK, now I get to insert my foot FIRMLY in my mouth.

I just talked to Ginnie managment again. This is the way that they want to work out the fees, in contrast to my previous posts. You will have to pay for the day of diving for the cleanup. They do not want to do refunds for that day, for paperwork and accounting reasons. What they will do is give us vouchers for 2 days of future diving after completion of the cleanup dive.

My sincere apologies for any issues that this may cause anyone.

As far as mesh bags, if you have one, please bring it. Ginnie does have a few that we can use, but the supply is definitely finite.

The current is said to be rather fast, so don't plan on kicking against it too much, wear enough weight so that you can still get negative at the end of the dive.
