So, tell us non-believers what the functional benefit over a traditional octo set-up is?

You mean like some divers don't have an extra LP port on their regulators for the octo?

Or one less hose to get dragged around?

Concurrently, convince us non-believers what the functional benefit over having two second stages? Old timers have logged thousands upon thousands of dives without having a second stage. Why add another failure point?

That was then. In the present, all 1st stages are manufactured with at least 4 LP ports. Funds that would be directed to inflator/reg combos can now be spend on BP/wings for a more thoughtful gear package...

What about people who still use the older regs? Should they, because of your self-appointed expertise, go out and get a set of newfangled regulator?

BTW, real divers don't need no BPW. They go slim, they go trim and they go with less failure points. No octos either.:D

I attribute it to ego. Many of us fall into the trap of "I know I am smart. This is my setup. Therefore, if you choose a different setup, you must not be as smart as me."
Well, ya see, God sent Moses down with the two tablets which decreed certain people to be scuba know-it-all experts. Or at least they'd like to think so.

To answer the original question, as that is all that was asked by the op, if I was choosing between the 2 units listed I would choose the SS1. First, Atomic's quality of construction is second to none, machining all parts instead of casting and their use of all stainless steel and titanium in the construction of the unit exceeds that of the chrome plated brass. Either unit work well within its design, like it or hate it, and will serve you well but IMO, which may mean nothing say it ain't so, is that the SS1 is worth an extra $40.

Let's ask Steve if he owns a inflator/reg gizmo. Wanna bet?

Let's look at his rig in that video. Did you see an octo?

Also, in case you haven't gotten the hint: this thread is about two choices of inline octos and not about inline octo versus regular octo.

In case you haven't gotten that hint, there are enough replies to your postings that indicate we don't really care what you think about inline octo, nor do we care about BPW in this thread that is about two inline octos.:idk:

Then quit asking me questions...
